Stepping into the colorful romance genre, A Good Day To Be A Dog introduces readers to Han Hae-na, a high school teacher burdened by a bizarre and highly inconvenient family secret. For generations, the women in her family have suffered under a strange ancestral curse: the moment they share their first kiss with someone, they transform into a dog every night at midnight. The only way to reverse this nightly canine transformation is to receive a second kiss from the exact same person, while still in their furry four-legged form. For years, Hae-na has carefully orchestrated her dating life to avoid any accidental romantic entanglements, dodging physical affection at all costs just to keep her terrifying secret hidden from the world.

That careful strategy completely shatters one fateful evening after a night of heavy drinking. In a hazy lapse of judgment, Hae-na accidentally kisses Jin Seo-won, a fellow teacher at her school known for his cold demeanor and sharp intellect. Panic instantly sets in as the midnight hour approaches and her body begins to shift. Worse yet, Hae-na soon discovers a cruel irony that turns her dilemma into an impossible mission. Seo-won happens to harbor a severe, bone-chilling phobia of dogs due to a forgotten childhood trauma. Now, Hae-na must find a way to trick a man terrified of canines into kissing a stray puppy, leading to a hilariously awkward and heartwarming romantic comedy of errors.

The story thrives on the crackling chemistry between its unforgettable lead characters. Han Hae-na is fiercely relatable, balancing her professional dignity with the sheer panic of desperately trying to act normal while hiding her furry nocturnal identity. Jin Seo-won provides the ultimate counterweight as the aloof, cat-loving academic whose icy exterior slowly melts when he is forced to confront his worst fears through an increasingly clingy school dog. Their dynamic shifts brilliantly from workplace tension to mutual vulnerability, anchored by rich supporting characters who add layers of humor and emotional depth to the supernatural setup.
